AFSCME Benefits
Health Insurance
- Effective on employee's start date.
- City pays 100% of employee premium and contributes a portion to familiy coverage premium.
- Carrier is Health Alliance HMO, which covers Carle Clinic, Carle Hospital, Christie Clinic, Provena Hospital and associated medical providers.
Dental Insurance
- Voluntary dental coverage for employees, their spouses and dependents is offered through Trustmark.
Vacation
- During 1st year of service: 8 hours per month for the first 10 months; equivalent to 10 days.
- After completion of 1 year of service: 96 hours; equivalent to 12 days.
- After completion of 5 years of service: 120 hours; equivalent to 15 days.
- After completion of 9 years of service: 160 hours; equivalent to 20 days.
- After completion of 15 years of service: 200 hours; equivalent to 25 days.
Sick Leave
- Start off with 69 hours the first day of employment.
- After completion of 1 year of service, sick leave will accrue at 8 hours per month.
Compensatory Time
- Receive 1½ (1.5) hours of comp. time for each hour worked over 40 in a workweek instead of overtime pay. For example, if you work 42 hours in a week, the 2 hours worked over 40 equals 3 hours of comp. time.
- Maximum accumulation is 120 hours per calendar year.
Holidays
- 10 holidays; 8 hours of pay for each holiday.
- New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King’s Day, Spring Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Life Insurance
- Effective on start date.
- Carrier is Hartford.
- Coverage includes $20,000 regular life and $40,000 accidental death & dismemberment coverage. Additional supplemental coverage is also offered.
Retirement Plan
- The City offers Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Pension, Life, & Disability coverage.
- Employee pays 4.5% and the City pays all other costs.
- Employee’s deposits may be withdrawn at separation.
Other Benefits
- Employee Assistance Program (up to 50 mental health office visits for employees, their spouses and dependents at no cost).
