The Firemen's Pension Fund Board manages the Firemen's Pension Fund as prescribed under Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Statutes of the State of Illinois.
Major activities include awarding of pensions and investing funds until needed to make pension payments. Members are elected from active and retired firefighters and two positions are appointed by the Mayor. There are currently 5 members; Fire Chief & Finance Director (mayoral appointed), 2 firefighters elected from the current workforce, and 1 retired firefighter elected from the retired members of the fund.
The board meets regularly on the last Friday of January, April, July, and October. Special meetings may be scheduled as required. Meetings are located in the 2nd floor conference room of the City building at 400 S. Vine St., Urbana, Illinois. Meetings start at 9:30 A.M. and are open to the public.
