Urbana Free Library Board
The Library Board conducts all business pertaining to the library's operations. The Board is comprised of several committees which are responsible for areas such as buildings and grounds, the Archives, funding, and long-range planning. At the board meetings, the staff reports on various aspects of the daily operations of the library, including programs being developed, equipment purchased, employees hired, and general use of the library's facilities. The Library Board also establishes the operating budget for the library, but does not have authority to approve a tax levy. Members are appointed by the Mayor and serve 3-year alternating terms.
