Economic Development
The Economic Development Division actively promotes the growth and development of the City of Urbana by assisting in the retention and expansion of existing businesses, attracting new commercial and industrial development, and improving the quality of life for residents through the implementation of City plans.
Major Activities:
- Coordinates economic development activities that expand the City's commercial and industrial tax base
- Provides market data and tracks available commercial buildings and sites
- Assists new and existing business development and manages incentive programs
- Manages the Tax Increment Financing Districts, Enterprise Zone, and Economic Development Fund
- Manages the Public Arts Program
- Manages Urbana’s Market at the Square
- Coordinates communication including managing social media and marketing outreach to visitors
- Represents the City to the Economic Development Corporation and Urbana Business Association
