The Sewer Benefit tax is a user fee imposed by the City of Urbana for the maintenance and upkeep of the sewer lines. It is not to be confused with the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District fee which is for processing the sewage at the treatment plant.
The Sewer Benefit tax is calculated by taking the average daily use multiplied by the tax rate. The average daily use is calculated by dividing the usage (in hundred cubic feet) by the number of days in the reading.
In February 2006, the Urbana Champaign Sanitary District began billing the City's Sewer Benefit Tax. Please call the UCSD at 367-3409 for 2006 account information.
