TRIAD / S.A.L.T Council
The Triad / S.A.L.T. Council is a cooperative effort among the enforcement agencies in Champaign County and the senior citizens who work and reside in the county. The Council acts in an advisory capacity to law enforcement by acting as a primary source of information on those issues most affecting seniors.
The emphasis of the Council is on reducing crime through the cooperative efforts of its seniors and law enforcement by expanding and implementing effective crime prevention and education programs.
The TRIAD / S.A.L.T. Council holds an Informational Meeting with seniors every other month to determine what issues are affecting their daily lives. These meetings include brief presentations by prominent people who reside and work within the community. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. The meetings alternate between the Springer Cultural Center in Champaign and the Urbana Civic Center. The business meetings at the Springer Center are held to conduct TRIAD/S.A.L.T. business. The Informational meetings at the Urbana Civic Center are held to inform and educate elders. Seniors are invited to attend both meetings.
