The City of Urbana recognizes domestic partnerships that have been documented per City policy; for additional information, please visit: Domestic Partnership Registration. If you have established and declared a domestic partnership, your partner and the eligible children of a declared domestic partner are eligible for enrollment in any City group benefit program that provides for such coverage under the conditions specified by the plan and the City.
Employees may also use unpaid family medical leave, vacation, personal leave, and compensatory time to care for a declared domestic partner or a family member of a declared domestic partner in all instances in which they would be eligible to do so if the partner was a spouse, and bereavement leave is conveyed with the same eligibility for domestic partners as if the partner was a spouse.
Domestic partners are also covered under the City's Employee Assistance Program and may be designated as the beneficiary to the employee's eligible benefit programs.
