North Lincoln Avenue Closure

Beginning the week of March 6, 2017, Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic from Oaks Road to Olympian Drive.

During this construction phase, northbound traffic will be detoured from Oaks Road to Willow Road to Ford Harris Road; southbound traffic will be detoured in reverse order. Special accommodations are in place to allow access to residences in the closed area.

During the closure, earthwork, ditch work and the installation of culvert pipe will occur. The road closure is anticipated to remain in effect until Fall 2017.

Stark Construction is the contractor on this $2.59 million project, which is being constructed as a joint project with Champaign County. Eighty percent of this project is funded with Federal Surface Transportation Urban Program monies.

Olympian Drive will be opened between Lincoln Avenue and Apollo Drive once the North Lincoln Avenue improvements are completed.

Please drive safely in and around construction areas. The City of Urbana would like to thank the public for its patience and cooperation during this project.

Windsor Road Lane Closure at Boulder Drive

As part of the 2016-2018 Miscellaneous Sewer Repair Project, and weather permitting, Duce Construction will be doing a manhole adjustment and will close the westbound right turn lane on East Windsor Road at the intersection of Windsor and Boulder Drive starting on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. through Friday, March 3, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

Both Windsor Road and Boulder Drive will remain open to through traffic at all times during the project. Traffic control will be in place to guide motorists through the areas where travel is reduced. Right turning movements will be allowed from the outside westbound lane of Windsor Road.

Annexation Public Hearing - February 20, 7:00pm

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT the City Council of the City of Urbana, Illinois will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00pm, on Monday, February 20, 2017, in the Council Chambers of the Urbana City Building, 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, for the purpose of receiving public comment regarding a proposed annexation agreement between the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District and the City of Urbana, for tracts of land totaling approximately 0.335 acres and generally located in Urbana Township at the northeast corner of East Main Street and Pfeffer Road and commonly referred to as 2912 East Main Street.

Coler Avenue Bridge Closure

As part of the 2016-2018 Miscellaneous Sewer Repair Project, and weather permitting, Duce Construction will be doing sewer repairs and will close all lanes on South Coler Avenue between Elm Street and Springfield Avenue starting on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. through Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

Access to all driveways will be maintained throughout construction. A detour route will be used to guide traffic around the construction site and traffic control will be in place to guide motorists.

Urbana Sidewalk Snow Removal Requirements in Effect

At 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, the Urbana Public Works Director will declare the sidewalk snow and ice removal requirement in effect for the Downtown, University and South Philo Road snow removal districts.

Due to the winter storm, ice and/or two inches or more of snow has accumulated on sidewalks. In order to make sidewalks safe for pedestrians, City ordinance requires that public sidewalks, within the defined districts, be cleared by adjacent property owners within 24 hours after the Public Works Director’s declaration. Sidewalks need to be cleared by 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2017. Public sidewalks within these districts, which are not in compliance, could be cleared by the City at the expense of the adjacent property owner, with additional fines and administrative fees applied.

Closed: Request for Proposals - Fire Engineer Promotional Exam: Practical Assessment

The Urbana Fire Department is seeking Proposals for Fire Engineer Promotional Testing - Practical Assessment.

The purpose of this RFP is to select a qualified professional vendor to develop, validate, administer, and score assessment centers for the practical portion of the promotional testing for the position of Engineer in the Fire Department, per the specifications contained herein. The selected vendor will also analyze test results and provide final results.

Proposals will be received at the Urbana Fire Department, 400 S. Vine St., Urbana, Illinois 61801.

All vendors intending to respond to this RFP must supply contact information to Division Chief Derrick Odle at daodle@urbanaillinois.us upon receipt of this RFP in order to receive addenda and other information pertinent to this RFP.

The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, and to waive irregularities or technicalities.

Closed: Urbana HOME Consortium Affordable Housing Request for Proposals

CLOSED: Request for Bids for Brick Sidewalk Repair Project

Each BID must be accompanied by a BID BOND payable to the City of Urbana in the amount of five percent of the total amount of the BID. The Bid Bond of the three lowest bidders for the CONTRACT will be held until receipt of a signed CONTRACT and CONTRACT BOND. All other BID BONDS will be returned after comparison of the BIDS.

A CONTRACT BOND in the total amount of the contract price with a corporate surety approved by the City will be required for the faithful performance of the CONTRACT. Illinois Street Closure

Weather permitting, Illinois Street between McCullough Street and Birch Street will be closed to all thru traffic starting on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. through Monday, January 23, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. due to a water main replacement project. Access to all driveways will be maintained throughout this closure.

Closed: Request for Proposals for Crime Analysis Software

The City of Urbana is seeking proposals to purchase software for Crime Analysis, particularly spatial analysis. In addition to the software, the City requires Proposers to provide professional services that will ensure a successful implementation and knowledge transfer to local users and IT staff supporting the system.

Saline Court Lane Closures

Weather permitting, periodic lane closures for pavement coring can be expected along Saline Court from Lincoln Avenue to the cul-de-sac, starting at 7 am, Monday, January 23, 2017 and ending at 5 pm, Friday January 27, 2017. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Saline Court at all times.
