Interstate 74 to Close for Several Nights for Bridge Repair -- Updated
Paris, IL - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that weather permitting, Interstate 74 will be closed between the University Avenue exit at mile marker 185 and the Royal/ Ogden exit at mile marker 197 for bridge beam removal on a series of nights. During the closure, motorists will be directed to a marked route detour utilizing the University Avenue exit, US Route 150 and Market Street in Ogden. There will be signs and message boards to guide motorists around the closure.
This work is scheduled to begin July 13, 2010, at 10:00 PM, and the Interstate will be reopened each morning by 6:00 AM. The closures are anticipated to take 3 nights.
The overall project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November, weather permitting. The contractor for the $2,500,293 project is Stark Excavating, Inc.
Motorists are advised to slow down and drive carefully through this and all work zones.
