2010 Sewer Lining Project
The City of Urbana is upgrading 7,500 feet of sewer pipe to maintain the integrity of the storm and sanitary sewer systems in the area. Beginning Friday August 13, 2010 through Tuesday August 31, 2010 weather permitting Hoerr Construction will be performing sewer lining at various locations around Urbana. You will be notified via a door hanger brochure if the sanitary or storm sewer that serves your house is being lined.
This sewer lining process relies on trenchless sewer reconstruction technology that does not involve time consuming, expensive and disruptive open excavations. Instead of digging up and replacing the old pipe, the cured-in-place process provides for the insertion of a special lining inside the old pipe. The new liner creates a watertight, smooth-surfaced and long-lasting pipe within the old sewer. Streets affected by the Sewer Lining Project include:
- Briarcliff Drive – Cottage Grove to Philo Road
- Broadway Avenue – Park Street to Railroad Tracks
- Busey Avenue – Fairview Avenue to Sunset Drive
- California Avenue – Cedar Street to Race Street
- Country Squire Drive – Hunter Street to Kinch Street
- Goodwin Avenue – Illinois Street to Oregon Street
- Laurel Drive – Michigan Avenue to Philo Road
- Lincoln Avenue – Wascher Drive to Fairview Avenue
- Linview Avenue – Fairview Avenue to Sunset Drive
- Main Street – Urbana Avenue to Maple Street
- Maple Street – Main Street to Elm Street
- Orchard Street – Church Street to Fairview Avenue
- Summit Drive – Summit Court to Susan Stone
- Trails Drive– Fawn Hill Court to Barony Drive
- University Avenue – Wright Street to Romine Street
- University Avenue – Coler Avenue to McCullough Street

One or more lanes of a street may be closed at the lining locations to accommodate the Contractor’s equipment and set-up. Generally, lining is completed within one day at the location so any traffic impacts will be temporary. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
