Park Street Reconstruction Project - Wright Street to Goodwin Avenue

Beginning Monday August 9th, weather permitting the Park Street Reconstruction Project will start construction. This project consists of removing the existing brick and asphalt pavements, curb and gutters, driveway approaches, sidewalk ramps and then installing a new concrete pavement with new curb and gutter and new street lighting utilizing light emitting diodes.

The limits of the entire project are from Wright Street to Goodwin Avenue. The project will be constructed in three stages. Side streets affected that will have limited access onto Park Street are Mathews Avenue and Romine Street.

• Stage 1 will reconstruct Park Street from Wright Street to Romine Street and from Goodwin Avenue to one half block west of Goodwin Avenue.
• Stage 2 will reconstruct Park Street from one half block west of Goodwin Avenue to the east driveway of the Provena Hospital drop off canopy.
• Stage 3 will complete the project between Romine Street and the east driveway to the drop off area.

Vehicular and pedestrian access to all Provena Hospital buildings and parking lots and Hampton Inn will be maintained at all times. Signs will be installed along University Avenue, Goodwin Avenue and Wright Street directing motorists to Romine Street for access to Provena Hospital. Further updates will follow as work progresses.

The road is expected to be open in early October with parkway restoration in November of 2010.
