New Traffic Signal Activation Myra Ridge Drive & Windsor Road

Date:
November 11, 2010

New traffic signals at the intersection of Windsor Road and Myra Ridge Drive will be put into full operation on Thursday, November 11th, weather permitting.

Prior to the signals being placed into full operation they will be set to red flash for all directions of the intersection on Wednesday, November 10th in order to give motorists one day to adjust to the operating signal. Motorists are urged to use caution when approaching the intersection.

The new traffic signal is a part of the nearly complete Windsor Road Project in southeast Urbana. The project consisted of the widening of the road from two to four and five lanes which changed the character of the road from rural to urban.

All lanes of the road are open to traffic now that the road has been striped. The remaining work to be completed before wrapping up for winter is rough grading of the disturbed areas and the completion of the roadway lighting. Final grading of the disturbed areas will be performed next spring under more appropriate weather conditions.
