Parking Removal and New Bike Lanes on Philo Road

During the week of June 6, 2001, the City of Urbana will implement no parking on Philo Road, in preparation for the installation of bike lanes. Parking will no longer be allowed on:

Philo Road - West side from Pennsylvania Avenue to Washington Street

The removal of this parking was discussed at a Public Open House on December 3, 2009 and at a Traffic Commission meeting on December 8, 2009. The Traffic Commission made a recommendation to City Council to remove the parking and Ordinance No. 2010-01-001 prohibiting parking at the above mentioned location was passed by City Council on January 19, 2010.

Weather permitting, bike lanes will be striped on Philo Road from Pennsylvania Avenue to Washington Street the week of June 6, 2011. These new bike lanes are part of the implementation of the Urbana Bicycle Master Plan.
