Springfield Avenue Detours from McCullough Street to Cedar Street
August 16, 2011 - 5:00pm
The Springfield Avenue Reconstruction Project began July 13. This project consists of removing the existing pavement, curb and gutters, driveway approaches, sidewalk ramps and then installing a new concrete pavement with new curb and gutter, sidewalks and street lighting. The limits of the entire project are from McCullough Street to Cedar Street.
The project will be constructed in two stages:
Stage one construction from July 13th to August 2nd will close Springfield Avenue from west of McCullough Street to just east of Birch Street.
Stage two construction from August 3rd to August 16th will close Springfield Avenue from east of Birch Street to Cedar Street.
Side streets affected that will not be allowed access onto Springfield Avenue are Birch Street and McCullough Street. A detour route will be created directing westbound Springfield Avenue traffic to Main Street then southbound along Coler Avenue back to Springfield Avenue. Eastbound Springfield Avenue traffic will be detoured southbound along Coler Avenue then eastbound along Elm Street, then northbound along Cedar Street back to Springfield Avenue.
This work is expected to take approximately 5 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Further updates will follow as work progresses. The road is expected to be open in mid August with parkway restoration and lighting work in late August.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
