UC2B Construction Update
The Urbana Champaign Big Broadband Project (UC2B) construction work continues in Urbana. John Burns Construction Company from Orland Park is installing fiber optic conduit and handholes throughout the City of Urbana.
From 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, crews will periodically close the northbound lanes on Vine Street between Illinois Street and Green Street and on Lincoln Avenue between Park Street and Sunset Avenue and the westbound lane on Windsor Road from High Cross Road to Myra Ridge Drive to install fiber optic conduit and handholes. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times while the work is being performed.
Along the I-74 corridor from Brownfield Road to High Cross Road, crews will install fiber optic cable through the conduit.
Seeding and pavement restoration continues in areas where conduit and handhole installation have already occurred.
