Piato's Café to Donate Backpacks & School Supplies to Students at King School

Last year, Piato’s Café provided over 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to students who were in need. This year, head chef, Kelly Jo Lamb, has been working hard to try and provide more backpacks than ever. Their goal is 300 backpacks filled with notebooks, crayons, pencils, glue, scissors, erasers, folders, rulers, and much more.

To help achieve this goal, Piato’s is asking for the community’s support during a $5 buffet on Thursday, August 9th from 11am-2pm. Proceeds from the buffet go directly to the cost of paying for any supplies and backpacks that are not donated from local businesses. Piato’s will also be accepting donations of school supplies during the buffet.

Kelly Jo Lamb and King School are also asking for volunteers to help to pack the backpacks with supplies on August 15 at 2:00 in the King Elementary School multipurpose room. With a large crowd of volunteers and optimal set-up it should only take about an hour to get it done. Backpacks will be delivered to students at King’s Welcome Back to School Night Friday, August 17 from 6:00-7:00pm

For more information about how you can donate or volunteer, contact Jennifer Ivory-Tatum, King Principal, at 384-3675 or Kelly Jo Lamb, Piato’s Café, at 344-9025.
