Lincoln and Springfield Resurfacing Project

Beginning on Saturday, April 23, 2022, the Lincoln and Springfield Resurfacing Project will have new lane closures. 

The new lane closures on the northbound side of Lincoln Avenue will run from Springfield Ave to University Ave, with one lane to remain open to traffic at all times. The closure will alternate from the right (outside) lane to the left (inside) lane, as required. The new lane closures on the southbound side of Lincoln Avenue will run from Springfield Ave to University Ave, the left (inside) lane being closed for traffic.  The right (outside) lane will remain open to traffic. The current road closure at Main Street will continue to be closed to traffic at the intersection with Lincoln Avenue, on the east side of Lincoln Avenue. Lane closures in this area may shift so please be aware of these possible shifts. All roadway users are encouraged to travel carefully through this and all construction areas.  Please do not drive through areas closed off to through traffic.  Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project. Future lane closures will be announced as they arise during all construction phases. 

Electronics Recycling Event Registration

Registration for the countywide residential electronics collection event will open on Monday, April 18, 2022.  The electronics collection event will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022.  Registration is required to attend:

Items accepted include: TVs (all types and sizes), computers, laptops, tablets, computer monitors, computer components, printers, scanners, copiers, stereos/radios, speakers, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, video game consoles, cell phones, telephones, cameras, ink & toner cartridges, holiday string lights, micowaves, and more. Check the registration website for a comprehensive list, and for more event information.   Limit 4 TVs and 7 items total per household.

Why National Community Development Week?

The objective of National Community Development Week is to educate the community on the importance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, its impact on the community, and the need for increased program funding.

National Community Development Week will be held April 11-15, 2022. This is a critical time for appropriations; work on the upcoming FY 2023 HUD funding bill will be in the initial stages. National Community Development Week provides a perfect forum to cement the importance of CDBG in the minds of those in Washington to increase program funding.

Urbana Business Networking Mixer
