Urbana Awarded $199,000 Safe Routes to School Grant

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, January 25, 2012 – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced that the City of Urbana, the City of Champaign, and C-U Safe Routes To School Project will receive Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant funding.

Sidewalk Snow Removal Districts Established

Beginning January 3, 2012 property owners within identified snow removal districts will be required to clear the adjacent public sidewalks of snow and ice within 24 hours of a declaration made by the Public Works Director.

2012 Electronics Landfill Ban

Beginning January 1, 2012: TVs, computers (including desktop, notebook, netbook, tablet), monitors, printers, computer peripherals, VCRs/DVD players, gaming systems, MP3 players and other electronic items will be banned from Illinois landfills.
