Urbana Participated in Attempt to Set New Guinness World Record with Reading of Historic Lincoln Speech

On Friday, February 11th at 11 a.m. the City of Urbana held a reading of Abraham Lincoln's 1861 "Farewell Address" as part of a nationwide observance of the anniversary of the Civil War. The reading was part of an attempt to beat the existing Guinness World Record of 223, 363 participants for most simultaneous readings from the same document. At Urbana's event, Mayor Laurel Lunt Prussing led 54 participants in the reading.

Urbana High School Students Earn Ribbons in Annual Mathematics Contest

The forty-fifth Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology High School Mathematics Contest took place Saturday, November 13, 2010. Urbana High School students competed with approximately 400 students from 24 schools throughout Illinois, Iowa and Indiana.

Urbana Signage and Wayfinding Concepts Presentation

The final public presentation of the Urbana Signage and Wayfinding Concept was unveiled on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Urbana Civic Center in Urbana.  After receiving public input on the preliminary ideas for the logo for downtown area, sign locations and styles, Selbert Perkins Design, the consultant hired by the City of Urbana, developed a single preferred concept.&
