Boneyard Creek Improvements Project Construction Update
Despite five work interrupting rain storms, progress continued on the Boneyard Creek Improvements Project during August 2014.
Work completed included: Replacement of the Norfolk-Southern railroad crossings on both Race Street and Broadway Avenue; resurfacing over the Griggs Street Culvert with new asphalt pavement; asphalt paving in City Parking Lot #25; topsoil placement west of Race Street; construction of the earth retaining walls between the Norfolk-Southern railroad culvert and Broadway Avenue; construction of the multi-use path between Race Street and the railroad culvert; and construction of the seat walls north of the trestle pedestrian bridge. Work also progressed on the railings, stone veneer, lighting, and the irrigation system components of the project.
Work anticipated for September 2014 includes: Construction of the steps north of the trestle pedestrian bridge plaza; installation of permeable pavers in City Parking Lot #25; construction of the multi-use path between the Norfolk-Southern railroad bridge and Broadway Avenue; topsoil placement east of Race Street; construction of sidewalk and planter areas west of the Station Theater; landscaping throughout the Project site; pavement striping; and installation of remaining fencing, railings, stone veneer, lighting and irrigation components.
