Boneyard Creek Improvements Project Construction Update
Between major rainfall events in July progress continued on the Boneyard Creek Improvements Project.
Work completed included:
Griggs Street reconstruction from Race Street to the culvert over the creek; installation of the creek edge earthen retaining wall between Broadway Avenue and the railroad culvert; completion of the stone veneer around the Race Street bridge and core wall west of Race Street; construction of Site Wall 12 between the railroad bridge and trestle wall; completion of the trestle bridge deck; and work started on the core and seat walls east of Race Street.
Work anticipated for August 2014 includes:
Replacement of railroad crossing surface on both Race Street and Broadway Avenue by Norfolk Southern; construction of the multi-use path between the Race Street and Broadway Avenue; topsoil placement west of Race Street; construction of the upper earthen retaining walls between the railroad culvert and Broadway Avenue; construction of the steps and seat walls north of the trestle pedestrian bridge; and installation of the remaining railings, stone veneer, lighting, sidewalk, and irrigation system.
