Boneyard Creek Improvements Project Construction Update
Work resumed on the project during the middle of March 2014. Workers formed and poured the parapet wall off the northeast corner of the Griggs Street Bridge and resumed construction of the concrete faced sheet pile wall southwest of the Norfolk Southern railroad bridge. Another significant accomplishment was the installation of conduit under the railroad tracks on Race Street. The conduit will be used to complete the relocation of overhead Comcast fiber optic cables and poles to clear the way for completion of curb & gutter, sidewalk, brick ribbon and traffic detector loops on Race Street.
In April 2014, construction activity will be focused on finishing the wall adjacent to the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks off the northeast corner of the Race Street Bridge, building the Griggs Street overlook, and continuing work on the retaining wall bordering the west parking lot of the building at 221 Broadway Avenue. Work may also begin on the installation of stone facing and hand rails around the Race Street Bridge, landscaping along Broadway Avenue and Race Street and the reconstruction of Griggs Street from Race Street west to the Griggs Street Bridge.
