303 W. Main is a Spanish Revival building that was built in 1925. The building is one story and is constructed of brick which is painted cream. The base of the building is constructed of brick which is painted brown. 303 W. Main is currently home to the Kirby’s Firestone Service Center. The roof of the building is a steeply pitched hipped roof that is covered with red clay tiles, a distinguishing feature of Spanish Revival architecture. The roof has flared eaves at the corners. Large square brick columns support the flared eaves of the roof. The windows are steel framed casement windows. Subtle brick detailing can be found around punched window openings and at the cornice. |
It was first knon as the Flatt Tire Company, built and owned by Henry Green. It became Firestone in the early 1930s. A series of owners bought and sold the station between 1950 and 1979 when Michael and Nancy Kirby purchased it. Joseph Royer's Flat Iron building was next door until it was destroyed in a fire in 1948. The station was damaged during the demolition and clean up when a wall fall on the garage |
