Vendor Registration
First Things First
Greetings, potential vendors! If you're considering applying for space at the Market, here are a few things you should know before you download application materials:
- Urbana's Market at the Square is a "producer-only" market, which means potential vendors MUST grow or create their items themselves in the state of Illinois. Re-selling of produce, arts and crafts, or any other item at the Market is prohibited at the Market.
- Space is assigned depending on seniority; vendors who were at the Market the previous year get first crack at their spaces in the new season. New vendors will be assigned space depending on how many days they plan to sell at the Market - the more days they plan to sell, the more likely it is they'll be assigned the same space week after week.
- Electricity is limited at the Market and is provided, for a fee, on a seniority/availability basis.
The Market's welcome letter, guidelines and application materials are comprehensive - click the links below to download them. Please contact Lisa Bralts, the Market's Director, with any questions.
Additionally...
The Market now accepts credit, debit, and LINK cards. Vendors will accept tokens for purchases, return the tokens to the City tent, and will be reimbursed by the City the following week. Please refer to the vendor agreement in the application materials for a full explanation of the program. The vendor agreement must be returned with your application in order for you to be considered as a vendor.
All produce and food vendors are invited to donate excess product at the end of each Market day to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank; their staff will be on site at noon starting in June to pick up donations. For more information about this program, please download Farm to Foodbank.
Sprouts at the Market, our child nutrition and farm linkage programming for kids ages 3-8, will have six events in 2012, with at least four involving produce growers and/or produce. We encourage all produce growers to get involved with Sprouts - it's a great way to encourage young kids to eat fresh fruits and vegetables, and an excellent way to get their caregivers to shop more frequently at the Market. Please download Sprouts at the Market FAQ for more information.
