Stormwater Pollution
Stormwater can pick up debris, chemicals, dirt, and other pollutants and flow into a storm sewer system or directly into a lake, stream, river, wetland, or coastal water. Anything that enters a storm sewer system is discharged untreated into the water bodies we use for swimming, fishing, and drinking water.
The City prohibits the discharge of any waste or pollution to the storm sewer system. If you see or suspect any waste or pollution is being discharged to the storm sewer system please report it immediatley to 384-2316.
The graphic below shows an estimate of the number of polluters in the US population that engage in behaviors that can directly influence water quality. These estimates are not the number of Americans overall that engage in a particular behavior, but those that engage in these behaviors in excess of recommended guidelines.
