The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has prepared new flood insurance rate maps (FIRM) for the City of Urbana.
The City of Urbana’s storm water management system includes 129 miles of pipe ranging in diameter from 6 inches to 120 inches, 7,773 manholes and inlets, and two regional stormwater detention basins.
Urbana’s Storm Water Flood Control Program consists of the following four key parts:
Storm Water Collection System Infrastructure - Urbana designs, constructs and operates storm sewers, detention ponds, culverts and open channel ditches to minimize flooding.
Flooding creates a stressful and emotional situation for the homeowner or renter. In some cases it may cause health and safety concerns as well as significant property loss.
