Champaign County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update News

The update to the Champaign County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) is currently in progress.

The City of Urbana participates in the HMP update, which takes place every five years.

Participating in the HMP update allows communities to remain eligible for disaster assistance and potential grant funds to mitigate adverse impacts of certain natural and technical hazards, as required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

We invite residents to complete a short Public Survey that is available online between now and mid-March. An estimate of time needed to complete this survey is less than 10 minutes.

The Public Survey includes questions regarding your

• perceptions and ideas about certain potential hazards that may impact you and your community; and 
• preferred methods for reducing the risks and losses associated with these potential hazards.
