Keeping "U" Safe Month 2020
Urbana Celebrates Keeping "U" Safe Month
Last year in 2019, the City of Urbana designated May as Keeping "U" Safe Month to celebrate the effort, devotion, and service that the Urbana Police Department, the Urbana Fire Departent, the Urbana Public Works Department, and the Urbana Building Safety Division bring to the community.
The City of Urbana acknowledges that these departments keep the City of Urbana and its residents and stakeholders safe with programs, inspections, drills, patrols, interventions, and the list goes on. They truly keep you safe.
This year, the City wants to also acknowledge those in the community that are helping to keep us safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. These groups include, but are certainly not limited to, essential workers from health professionals, doctors, nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), their staff; to those that workers that keep us supplied with food, pharmaceuticals, and other essential supplies and services that families need to live. That also includes those in the front line of a store, that drive a truck, work in a warehouse, or deliver goods or perform services. These essential workers keep us safe, well, and alive.
The City also acknowledges and recognizes those that are complying with the Stay-at-Home order, practicing physical social distancing, and wearing a face cover over their nose and mouth when out in public to keep us all safe. The City of Urbana dedicates this month to all of you for keeping us safe. We dedicate this month of May, 2020 as Keeping "U" Safe Month.
This month also includes National Building Safety Month; International Firefighter's Day on May 4, 2020; National Police Week during May 10 through May 16; and National Public Works Week during May 17 through May 23. We truly thank our staff for their never-ending and dedicated service to the community.
