Historic Preservation Month FUMC Open House
The First United Methodist Church of Urbana, in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Studies Graduate Program of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the City of Urbana’s Historic Preservation Commission, is hosting an open house at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
For those that would like to walk over with the tour guides to learn about other Urbana Historic Landmarks and Districts that will be passed on the way to the open house, including the Hotel Royer (formerly the Urbana-Lincoln Hotel), the Lincoln Square Mall, and the Downtown Urbana Historic District, please meet at Urbana’s Market at the Square at 11:55 a.m. Tour guides will be waiting at the information table at Booth CG20 & 21 in the easternmost row at the Market.
Urbana’s Market at the Square takes place from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. each Saturday at the northwest corner of South Vine and East Illinois Streets in Urbana.
For those that simply wish to begin the actual tour at the Church, please meet at its east door, at 304 South Church Street. Parking is available south of the Church at Lincoln Square Mall. CUMTD has multiple bus stops nearby, and both Green Street and Race Street have dedicated bicycle lanes. See the included map (look for the red cross icon).
