University Student Move In Parking Enforcement
Beginning at 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024, and ending at midnight on Sunday, August 25, 2024, the City of Urbana Parking Enforcement Division will enforce the following:
- The enforcement of restricted areas (i.e., restricted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m.) located in the campus district will be suspended during move-in time.
- Students moving in early (August 20 to 22) will follow the flow of traffic as noted in the figure below.
- Meters will be enforced as usual during move-in time except on streets blocked by Public Works.
Parking regulations that are not related to safety concerns—such as parking too close to a sidewalk or driveway, parking outside the lines, being more than 12 inches from the curb, or parking on the wrong side of the street—will not be enforced during move-in time unless a complaint is made. Exceptions include blocking intersections or roadways.
Fraternities, sororities, and other house organizations will have earlier move-in dates, which are still to be determined.
However, parking regulations related to safety, such as blocking a fire hydrant, driveway, or road (especially on narrow streets where vehicles cannot pass), will continue to be strictly enforced. Vehicles parked in unloading zones beyond the allotted time may be relocated. University Housing is not responsible for any parking violations incurred.
Disabled parking spaces will be enforced on a complaint basis only.
