Urbana Middle School Hosts the President's Own United States Marine Band in Free Concert

On Monday, September 8, 2014, Urbana Middle School will play host to The President’s Own United States Marine Band in a free concert. The concert is at 7:30pm in the UMS Gymnasium.

The concert, sponsored by the Urbana School District #116 and the Urbana Band Boosters, is free to the public, however, attendees must have a ticket to enter. There is no reserved seating and space is limited. Tickets can be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to: ATTN: Marine Band Concert – Darren Hicks, Urbana High School, 1002 S. Race St., Urbana, IL 61801. Tickets are limited to 4 per request. The ticket request form can be found on the Urbana Band Boosters web page at: www.sites.google.com/site/urbanabands/Home.

“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band’s mission is to perform for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, the Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Today, “The President’s Own” is celebrated for its role at the White House and its dynamic public performances, which total more than 500 annually.
