Art at the Market

Date: October 8, 2016 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

Join the Urbana Public Arts Program on Saturday, October 8th, 2016 for music and arts activities at Urbana’s Market at the Square! Find us at the Northwest corner of the market between 8:00am and 12:00pm. All programs offered are free, and no registration is needed.

From 8:00am to 12pm, come freestyle with local artist Carol Farnum. She will bring plywood sheets, spray paint, quarts of paint and brushes/rollers, markers, and stencils to let visitors freestyle however they want. All materials will be safe to use, and visitors of all ages are welcome. Carol will provide direction and technical knowledge, and draw images out for anyone to paint.

Also not to be missed, from 9:30am to 11:30am, Music Boxers will entertain market visitors with live music! With the youngest member at 6, and most senior member having performed multiple decades, their musical selection of this multi-generational group is widely varied. Their repertoire encompasses familiar elements of American folk and roots music, nostalgic harmonies from Andean folk music, and tunes from Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Suitable for dancing or creating atmosphere, their music is accessible to anyone. Check out some of their recordings here and here.
