Recycling Tax Bill

The U-Cycle tax bill that you receive in November 2019 will cover the remainder of 2019 (March 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019) before the City of Urbana transitions its recycling tax billing to the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District in January 2020.  The recycling tax normally covers the time period for service rendered the year prior (so the bill you received March 1, 2019 covered the time frame from March 1, 2018 - February 28, 2019); however in order for the transition to take place the City will bill households for the remaining months of 2019.   

Starting January 2020, the recycling tax bill will be incorporated into your bi-monthly Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District bill; instead of receiving an annual recycling tax bill in the mail every March. The rate for the recycling tax will be $3.25 per month.  You do not have to do anything on your end. This will automatically change. Please take a look at your November 2019 recycling tax bill, and read the enclosed information regarding these changes.
