The Annual Countywide Celebration commemorates Dr. King’s legacy by bringing together community members from Champaign County to celebrate the mission, teachings, and legacy of Dr. King.

and co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign
The Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Countywide Celebration is held in Champaign County, Illinois. The Cities of Champaign and Urbana come together with Champaign County, Parkland College and the University of Illinois to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to recognize the recipients of the James R. Burgess, Jr. – Susan Freiburg Humanitarian Award; the Doris K. Wylie Hoskins
Prestigious Community Service Award; and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award.
