Urbana City Council Training
By their action at the polls on April 6, 2021, the residents of Urbana gave their votes of confidence and expressed faith in our Urbana City Council member's ability to act in their best interest. In an effort to help navigate responsibilities and to provide the resources needed to maximize the impact of our newly elected officials as they serve the citizens of Urbana several training opportunities have been provided to them.
The Illinois Municipal League held an in-person workshop to introduce our newly elected City Council members to a variety of responsibilities, and to explain many areas of law that regulate the conduct of a municipal corporation. The following topics were covered (please click the links below to view presentations):
The City Clerk and City Attorney also briefly presented on Parliamentary Procedure and Legal Concerns and FOIA, respectively.
Additionally, Department Heads and Staff at the City of Urbana guided newly elected Council members through a series of presentations at regularly held Council and Committee of the Whole meetings that dealt directly with the most fundamental areas of our City government.
