University Avenue resurfacing begins Aug. 22
URBANA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that resurfacing of University Avenue (U.S. 150) between Wright Street and Cunningham Avenue in Urbana begins Aug. 22.
The project will require nighttime lane closures, which will occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays for approximately three weeks. Once the resurfacing is complete, daytime lane closures will be necessary for approximately two weeks to adjust manholes. After the adjustments, nighttime lane closures will resume for pavement striping for approximately two weeks.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
