Illinois Street will be closed between Lincoln Avenue and Busey Avenue in Urbana beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019. Weather permitting, Cross Construction, Inc. will make a repair to the City sanitary sewer main under the pavement on Illinois Street. Illinois Street will reopen by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019.
Access to all properties along Illinois Street will be maintained during the repair and a detour route will be in place to route traffic around the construction area. No thru traffic will be permitted on Illinois Street between Lincoln Avenue and Busey Avenue during this time.
Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this improvement is in progress.
Due to construction for the ISR (Illinois Street Residence Hall) Renovation and Addition Project done by the University Housing Facilities Department the sidewalk and bike lane on the south side of West Green Street will be closed between South Goodwin Avenue and South Lincoln Avenue until August 2, 2019. The closure is necessary for safety during construction in close proximity to the sidewalk.
No access will be permitted on the sidewalk or bike lane on the south side of West Green Street between South Goodwin Avenue and South Lincoln Avenue during the project to ensure the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians. Bicyclists should merge into the vehicle lane when heading eastbound on Green Street.

South Cottage Grove Avenue will be closed intermittently to thru traffic between East Washington Street and Eastern Drive starting at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday February 26, 2018 through 5:00 p.m. Wednesday February 27, 2018 for a sanitary sewer repair done by D&S Sewer Service.
Access will be maintained to all properties along South Cottage Grove Avenue but no thru traffic will be permitted on South Cottage Grove Avenue between East Washington Street and Eastern Drive during the repair.

The Urbana School District #116 Board of Education has begun the search process for a new superintendent for the 2019-2020 school year. They have selected School Exec Connect, an educational search firm, to assist them in this process. Community members are invited to provide input about the new superintendent. An online survey is available until March 8, 2019.

The City of Urbana is seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide a one day bulk sale of compost bins and rain barrels. Bids will be accepted at the Public Works Department, 706 Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bids will be accepted up to and no later than 2:00 CST p.m., Friday, March 29th, 2019 and at said time shall be opened and read publicly.

Non-profit organizations seeking funds to operate social service programs benefiting Urbana residents are invited to apply to the Consolidated Social Service Funding (CSSF) Pool. Funds may be used for both services to clients and/or program operating costs.
ALL applicants are required to attend one of the following workshops where funding priorities will be reviewed and the timeline and process will be discussed:

The City of Urbana is seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide two 2019 Ford Fusion SE sedans.
Sealed bids will be accepted at the Public Works Department, 706 Glover, Urbana, Illinois, 61802, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bids will be accepted up to and no later than 2:00 p.m. CST, Thursday, March 7, 2019 and at said time the bids shall be opened and read publically. The bid document is attached for download on this page below.
Illinois American Water says, due to a water main break this morning, water service has been temporarily interrupted so crews can make repairs.
Barring any unforeseen issues, we expect repairs to be made later today and water service restored. Once service is restored, customers in the affected area will be on a boil order.
Any time pressure drops below 20 psi a boil order is required per the EPA to protect customers.
Customers should bring their water to a rolling boil for 5 minutes before using for consumption, cooking, etc. The area includes the 200-400 blocks of W University, 500 block of N Lake, 400 block of N Race, and 205 & 301 W Park, Silver Creek, Windy City, and Lil’ Porgy’s.
