Closed: Request for Bids: Green Street Sanitary Sewer Extension

The Bid Documents may be examined and copies obtained at the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802.

All bidders are required to provide current financial and experience statements or other prequalification documents to show satisfactory evidence of the bidder’s competency to perform the proposed work at the time the Contract Documents and Specifications are requested or picked up.

Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, bank draft, bank cashier's check or bid bond acceptable to the Owner in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid, payable without condition to the Owner as a guaranty that the Bidder, if awarded the Contract, will promptly execute the Agreement in accordance with the Proposal and the other Contract Document, and will furnish good and sufficient bond for the faithful performance of the work.

Closed: Request for Proposals: 2017 Oil and Chip Street Maintenance Project

Sealed proposals for the furnishing or delivering and installing materials required in the construction/maintenance of the 2017 Oil and Chip Street Maintenance Project will be received until 8:30 a.m. on September 13, 2017, and at that time, publicly opened and read at the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802.

Plans and proposal forms will be available in the office of the Director of Public Works, 706 South Glover Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61802.

Proposals shall be submitted on forms furnished by the City of Urbana and shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope endorsed with “Material Proposal, Section 17-00590-00-SC.”

U-Cycle Collections Delayed due to Labor Day Holiday

U-Cycle collections will be delayed one day during the week of September 4, 2017, due to the Labor Day holiday.  Monday's U-Cycle route will be collected on Tuesday, Tuesday's route on Wednesday, and so forth for the entire week.  Please remember to set out recycling curbside by 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection.

East Main Street Lane Closure

Weather permitting; East Main Street will be closed to west bound traffic between North Vine Street and North Walnut Street starting at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday September 5, 2017 through 4:00 p.m. Friday September 8, 2017 for a water main repair done by Illinois American Water Company.

Access will be restricted to North Walnut Street properties from East Main Street. A detour route will be provided using South Vine Street to East Elm Street.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this project.

Labor Day Parade Street Closures

On Monday, September 4, 2017, Broadway Avenue from Illinois Street to Washington Street, Washington from Broadway to Lierman Avenue and Lierman from Washington to Art Bartell Road will be closed from 10:00 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. for the Champaign County AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade. The streets will only be closed as the parade progresses down these streets.

Main Street Closure for First Fridays Festival

On Friday, September 1, 2017, Main Street between Race Street and Broadway Avenue will be closed from 5:00 p.m. through 10:00 p.m. for the Urbana First Fridays Festival. Parking on this section of Main Street will not be available during the event.

Brighton Drive Road Closure

Due to public safety concerns, on Monday, August 28, 2017 Brighton Drive between Anderson Street and Cottage Grove Avenue will be closed from 8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. for an emergency tree removal.

University Avenue Lane Closure

Weather permitting; as part of the 2016 Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project, Hoerr Construction, Inc. will be cleaning and televising sewers and will close the inside Eastbound lane and Northbound left turn lane on University Avenue between Coler Street and Orchard Street on Tuesday, August 29th at 9:00 a.m.

University Avenue will remain open to through traffic at all times and access will be maintained to all properties on University Avenue during the cleaning and televising process. Traffic control will be in place to guide motorists through the areas where travel is reduced to three lanes.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this work is in progress.

Lincoln Avenue Lane Closure

Weather permitting; as part of the 2016 Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project, Hoerr Construction, Inc. will be cleaning and televising sewers and will close the outside Northbound lane on Lincoln Avenue between Park Street and Hill Street on Monday, August 28th at 9:00 a.m. 

Lincoln Avenue will remain open to through traffic at all times and access will be maintained to all properties on Lincoln Avenue during the cleaning and televising process.  Traffic control will be in place to guide motorists through the areas where travel is reduced to three lanes.

Landscape Recycling Center Closed for Road Repair 08-29-17

The Landscape Recycling Center will be closed on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017 from 8:00 am to noon for road resurfacing work. We anticipate opening at noon, but if any equipment or problems arise, we will try to open for business as soon as possible.

In the event of rain on Tuesday, the projected rain out-date will be Wednesday, August 30th with the same hours as above (8:00 am – 12:00am).

We are sorry for this inconvenience. The ticket booth employees will be reminding customers the week of the closure and hours.

Sweetcorn Festival Street Closures

The following street closures will occur for the Annual Sweetcorn Festival beginning Friday, August 25, 2017 and continuing through Sunday, August 27, 2017.

On Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00 a.m. the following streets will be closed:

  • Main Street from Vine Street to Cedar Street
  • Springfield Avenue from Cedar Street to Main Street
  • Walnut Street from Water Street to Main Street
  • Broadway Avenue from Elm Street to Water Street
  • Race Street from Elm Street to Griggs Street
  • Water Street from Broadway Avenue to Race Street

On Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:00 a.m. the following City of Urbana Parking Lots will be closed:

  • Lot 1
  • Lot 2

The Urbana Parking Deck (upper level) will be accessible from Elm Street at all times.

All streets will re-opened on Sunday, August 27, 2017 by noon. We appreciate your patience while the Sweetcorn Festival is underway.

Closed: Request for Bids: Storm Sewer Cleaning and Televising Project

Sealed Bids will be received until 1:55 P.M. prevailing time on SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 and opened and read aloud publicly at 2:00 P.M. prevailing time on SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 at the office of the City Engineer, 706 South Glover, Urbana, Illinois, 61802 for the 2017 Storm Sewer Cleaning & Televising Project (City Section 17-00587-00-SR), which includes furnishing of all materials, equipment and labor necessary to clean and televise approximately 43,300 lineal feet of storm sewer ranging in size from 6-inch to 60-inch diameter.

Specific tasks include water jet cleaning and tree root sawing; debris removal and disposal from storm sewers, manholes, inlets; and closed circuit televising and digital recording and internal inspection of sewer pipes.

All of the storm sewers under this project belong to the City of Urbana.
