Goodwin Avenue Lane Closure between Oregon Street and Nevada Street

Illinois American Water Company is making an emergency water main repair at the southeast corner of Goodwin Avenue and Oregon Street. Goodwin Avenue will be closed to north bound traffic from Nevada Street to Oregon Street from now until Friday, December 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. South bound traffic will not be affected by the emergency water main repair work.

Pavement Testing on Green Street

The City of Urbana has contracted with Engineering & Research Int’l, Inc. to perform pavement testing on the following City streets:



  • Green Street – Wright Street to Race Street

This work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 and should be completed by Friday, December 19, 2014. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, however periodic lanes closures are expected to occur during daylight hours.

Windsor Road Lane Closure

December 15, 2014 - 7:00am to December 19, 2014 - 5:00pm

The outside eastbound lane of traffic on Windsor Road will be closed from the intersection at Stone Creek Boulevard to High Cross Road beginning on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. and ending on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.


Windsor Road will remain open to traffic at all times throughout the water main repair work by Illinois American Water Company.

City Council Public Hearing Regarding iTV-3

The Urbana City Council will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, in the Council Chambers of the Urbana City Building, 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, for the purpose of receiving public comment regarding iTV-3.

Busey Avenue Emergency Closure between Nevada Street and Oregon Street

Busey Avenue between Nevada Street and Oregon Street will be closed for the emergency removal of a hazardous tree.


The road will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. today, Thursday, December 11, 2014.


Residents will have access to their properties, but no thru traffic will be allowed.

Busey Avenue Closure between Nevada Street and Washington Street

Due to inclement weather, the tree removal work scheduled to resume today on Busey Avenue has been delayed. Weather permitting, Busey Avenue between Nevada Street and Washington Street will now be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily on Thursday, December 18, 2014 and Friday, December 19, 2014 for this work to be completed.


Residents will have access to their properties, but no thru traffic will be allowed.

North Lincoln Avenue Lane Closure

Weather permitting, the outside lane of northbound traffic on North Lincoln Avenue will be closed just north of its intersection with Church Street on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Illinois American Water Company to perform pavement repair. Lincoln Avenue and Church Street will remain open to traffic at all times during the pavement repair work.

South Mathews Avenue Closure

Weather permitting, South Mathews Avenue from West Green Street to West Oregon Street will be closed to thru traffic beginning Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 7:00 a.m. until Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. for the set up and operation of a crane. There will be no detour route for this closure.

Additional Pavement Testing on Various City Streets

The City of Urbana has contracted with Engineering & Research Int’l, Inc. to perform pavement testing on the following City streets:



  • Broadway Avenue – north of Stebbins Drive to Oakland Avenue

  • Lincoln Avenue – Wilbur Road to north of Saline Court

  • Old Lincoln Avenue – Lincoln Avenue to east of Lincoln Avenue

  • Saline Court – Lincoln Avenue to north end of cul-de-sac

This work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, Thursday, December 4 and should be completed by Wednesday, December 10. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, however, periodic lanes closures are expected to occur during day light hours.

Orchard Street Closure

Orchard Street from Elm Street to Green Street will be closed to traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, December 2, for the emergency removal of a hazardous tree.

  • Washington Street – Walnut Street to west of Urbana Avenue

This work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, Wednesday, December 3 and should be completed by Friday, December 5. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times, however, periodic lanes closures are expected to occur during day light hours.
