Help “Hoopin’ for Hope” at the UHS Boys Basketball Game

Date: December 7, 2010 - 7:30pm

This year the Paw Pack/ The U Crew is trying to not only promote positive school spirit but also community service through a ‘Hoopin’ for Hope’ fundraiser at the December 7th boys basketball game vs. Central High School. The plan is to raise as much money as possible for breast cancer research and awareness. Students are participating by holding a variety of activities to try and raise money.

UHS students Trevor Richmond and Matt Murphy are helping to raise money by doing something just a little bit different. If their classmates, faculty and community members pledge $750, the students will cut their hair during half-time at the December 7th basketball game. In addition, the Paw Pack/U Crew will be selling ‘Hoopin’ for Hope’ T-shirts for $10 and ‘In Memory/Honor of…’ certificates for $1 each. They will also be raffling off a variety of items including an autographed baseball by Billy Williams, two $100 Visa gift cards, an autographed volleyball signed by the 2010 University of Illinois girls volleyball team, gift certificates from local Urbana businesses and a few other items. Raffle tickets will be available at one for $1, six for $5 or 13 for $10. All proceeds will go to help breast cancer.

If you would like to make a donation or purchase raffle tickets, ‘Hoopin’ for Hope’ t-shirts or certificates to display at the game, please contact Urbana High School at 384-3505. Donations can be made using cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard; contact the high school for more information. The game starts at 7:30pm Tuesday, December 7th. Go Tigers!
