Walk Your Way to a Healthier Life! Community Workshop

Date: January 13, 2011 - 5:15pm to 6:00pm

Did your New Year's resolution involve exercising? Weight loss? Being more active? Families and community members who want to live active lifestyles may need help figuring out how to incorporate walking and bicyling into their everyday life.

Please join C-U SRTS Project as they host Mark Fenton, a preeminent expert on walking and active living, at the Art Theater in Downtown Champaign from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday January 13th.  Mark is an entertaining, persuasive and knowledgeable walking advocate and one of the nation's foremost experts on the activity. He has become a vocal pedestrian advocate and recognized authority on public health issues and the need for community, environmental, and public-policy initiatives to encourage more walking and bicycling.

This workshop will include an overview of the issues, how active lifestyles work better than exercise programs or gym memberships, how many are working to transform the community to support active transportation, what is needed to succeed, and how people can get involved.

If you would like to learn how to begin living a more active lifestyle and what you can do to help our community become more walkable, join us for this free event.
