Urbana Middle School Student Council Members Contribute to Meals of Hope

Date: October 22, 2011 - 9:00am to 11:30am

Meals of Hope is a community-involved food packaging event in which volunteers package meals for local families and individuals facing hunger. Student council members from Urbana Middle School will contribute to the event by packaging meals on Saturday, October 22nd.

Over 70 students from UMS have raised a total of $800 to go towards supplying food for the meals. Each meal, designed to feed a family of four to five, will be sealed and boxed for the Eastern Illinois Food bank. The food bank will then distribute the meals to agencies around the Central Illinois area.

Student council members will unload supplies on Friday, October 21 after their first school dance of the year. They will return to the Urbana Middle School cafetorium on Saturday, October 22 from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. to pack and distribute the meals.
