Municipal Electric Aggregation

Date: April 8, 2012 - 9:15am

On March 20, 2012, voters in Champaign & Urbana chose to establish Municipal Electric Aggregation programs in their individual communities.

Municipal Electric Aggregation programs allow a community the option of buying bulk electricity for its residents.

Buying bulk can mean substantial discounts in cost and can offer the ability to purchase cleaner, renewable energy (i.e. solar or wind). These plans do not change the way residents are billed or serviced by Ameren, the savings are simply reflected in residents’ bills after the negotiations have taken place.
