Background:

The City is working to reduce its environmental impacts while improving the quality of life and supporting economic vitality. The Draft Climate Action Plan will guide the community in the reduction of its energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions. The Sustainability Advisory Commission as well as public input have and will continue to guide the City towards the most beneficial and impactful climate change mitigation strategies.

The City has completed the first step of the Climate Action Plan by conducting a greenhouse gas inventory which is an assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions from various sectors (residential, commercial, transportation, and solid waste). With a proposed goal of reducing community greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by the year 2020, the Draft Climate Action Plan Phase 1 is a community-wide plan that identifies initial strategies to achieve this goal.

We hope that you will join us there!
