Skip the Clip! USD #116 Hosting Fundraiser for Greg Chew Scholarship

Urbana School District #116 will host a Skip the Clip! Learn to tie a bow fundraiser to benefit the Greg Chew Theatre Scholarship at Urbana High School on Monday, August 25 at 7pm at UHS.


Just in time for National Bow Tie Day on Thursday, August 28, Superintendent Donald Owen will be the instructor for the fun-filled and educational evening. He will provide a short, irreverent history of the bow tie and also lead the lesson on how to tie your own. Participants much bring their own tie-able bow tie. Very light refreshments will be provided.


There is a suggested donation of $50 and reservations are required. To RSVP, please email dowen@usd116.org before Monday, August 25 at 12noon. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Greg Chew Theatre Scholarship.


Mr. Chew was an English teacher, along with speech and theatre, at Urbana High School for 35 years. During his tenure with the District, he became the director of the UHS drama program and made a lasting impression on the many students who joined the program. Mr. Chew passed away in May of 2014 after a battle with cancer.
