2015 Surface Seal Street Maintenance Project
The City of Urbana has contracted with Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC to place a surface seal on newly improved asphalt pavements that is intended to help the City extend the life of our pavements. Surface seal will be placed on the following streets throughout the City of Urbana:
Street Name
- Airport Road East (City Limits to Clifton Drive)
- Broadway Avenue (Washington Street to Illinois Street)
- Busey Avenue (Pennsylvania Avenue to Nevada Street)
- Coler Avenue (Washington Street to Green Street)
- Country Club Road (West City Limits to just East of Golfview Drive)
- Illinois Street (Orchard Street to Race Street)
- Iowa Street (Lincoln Avenue to Orchard Street)
- Park Street (Cunningham Avenue to Maple Street)
- Race Street (California Avenue to Elm Street)
- Washington Street (Race Street to Walnut Street)
- Willow Road (Country Club Road to just South of Willow Court)
- Willowview Road (Heater Road to Clifford Drive)
The work is tentatively scheduled from 7 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2015 until 5 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015. No parking on the street will be allowed during this time. We will prep the streets and then start spraying at 7am Monday morning. The sand material must be swept the following day. If rain is imminent we will push it back to the next day.
The material that is sprayed onto the roadway will be covered with a blotter material such as sand or limestone. Please go slow through the sealed areas as the material can be slippery and get onto vehicles. If the sealant does splash onto vehicles, it can be removed by immediately washing the vehicle with soap and water or by using a bug and tar remover.
Local traffic will be maintained as much as possible; however, depending on conditions, your street and driveway may be closed for 45 to 60 minutes the day of the work. No parking will be allowed along the edge of the street on the day of the work. The City will post signs to notify you of the date and times during which the no parking will be in effect.
Your patience is appreciated while these improvements are made.
