2015 Sewer Lining Project

The City of Urbana is lining 11,000 lineal feet of storm and sanitary sewer pipe to improve the integrity of both sewer systems. Beginning Thursday, December 17, 2015 Hoerr Construction, Inc. from Peoria, Illinois will be performing sewer cleaning, inspections, and lining at various locations in Urbana.

The cured-in-place pipe lining process relies on trenchless sewer reconstruction technology that does not involve time consuming, expensive and disruptive open excavations. Instead of digging up and replacing the old pipe, the cured-in-place process provides for the insertion of a special liner inside the existing pipe. The new liner creates a watertight, smooth-surfaced, structurally sound, and long-lasting pipe within the existing sewer.

One or more travel lanes of a street may be closed at the cleaning and televising locations to accommodate the Contractor’s equipment and set-up. Generally, work is completed within one day at each location so any traffic impacts will be temporary.
