PRIDEFEST RELATED ROAD CLOSURES

The City of Urbana Public Works Department has approved a Special Event Permit Application from the United Pride Center of Champaign County for Pride Fest. On Saturday, September 25, 2021, portions of streets in the City of Urbana will be closed to accommodate the event.

Streets in Downtown Urbana will be closed from approximately 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate a vendor fair and related activities. The street closures include Main Street from the Main Street/Springfield Avenue split to Broadway Avenue and Race Street from Elm Street to approximately one block north of Main Street.

The event will also include a parade starting at 3 p.m.  The following streets will be closed for the parade from 2:30 p.m. to approximately 4 p.m.:  Green Street from Lincoln Avenue to Cedar Street, Cedar Street from Green Street to Elm Street, Elm Street from Cedar Street to Broadway Avenue, Broadway Avenue from Elm Street to Water Street, and Water Street from Broadway Avenue to Vine Street.
 
Parking will not be permitted on Water Street between Broadway Avenue and Vine Street and in City Lot 9 on Water Street for the duration of the event for assembling at the end of the parade. On-street parking will not be permitted on Busey Avenue between Green Street and California Avenue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Gregory Street between Illinois Street and Oregon Street will be used for staging of the parade start. The street will close at 9:30 a.m. and reopen at approximately 4 p.m.  Parade participants will move from Gregory Street to Busey Avenue using Illinois Street prior to the 3 p.m. parade start. Urbana Public Works will assist with necessary traffic control.
Roads and intersections will be reopened as the last participants go through an area.
