Notice of Proposed Property Tax Increase for the City of Urbana, Illinois
A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax increase for the City of Urbana for 2019 will be held on December 9, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the City of Urbana Council Chambers, 400 S. Vine Street, Urbana, IL 61801. Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contract Charles Smyth, City Clerk, 400 S. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2018 were $7,876,330. The proposed corporate and special service property taxes to be levied for 2019 are $10,325,152. This represents a 31.1% increase over the previous year.
The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2018 were $0. The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2019 are $0. This represents a 0.00% increase over the previous year.
The total property taxes extended or abated for 2018 were $7,876,330. The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2019 are $10,325,152. This represents a 31.1% increase over the previous year.
The Urbana City Council will hold a public hearing, continued from September 23, 2019, at 7:00pm on Monday, December 9, 2019, in the Urbana City Council Chambers, 400 South Vine Street, Urbana, Illinois, to receive public input on a proposed annexation agreement between the City of Urbana and Henri Merkelo. The proposed annexation agreement is for a tract of land consisting of approximately 1.01 acres and generally located east of North Smith Road, and north of University Avenue. The property is commonly referred to as 2218 East University Avenue and has a permanent index number of 30-21-10-351-016.
