Urbana’s Battery Recycling Program Celebrates 10 Years

Battery Recycling PosterThis month marks the 10th anniversary of the City of Urbana’s battery recycling drop-off program. Since November 2007, the City of Urbana has been collecting single-use and rechargeable batteries from five drop-off locations in Urbana, including the Anita Purves Nature Center (1505 N. Broadway Ave.), Phillips Recreation Center (505 W. Stoughton St.), Urbana City Building (400 S. Vine St.), Urbana Free Library (210 W. Green St.), and Urbana Public Works (706 Glover Ave.).

Philo Road Closure

November 12, 2017 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

On Sunday, November 12, 2017 Philo Road between Windsor Road and Curtis Road will be closed from 1:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m. for the Mile at the Pines Races.

The intersection of Curtis Road and Philo Road will also be closed to through traffic during this time.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while this event is underway.

U-Cycle Brochure Survey

Cottage Grove Avenue Closure

As part of annual tree pruning, and weather permitting, The City Arbor Division will be closing the following streets:

  • Cottage Grove Avenue between Green Street and East Washington Street will be closed completely to all traffic from Monday, November 6, 2017 through Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. daily.
  • Cottage Grove Avenue between Washington Street and Oregon Street and Cottage Grove Avenue between Main Street and Green Street will be closed to thru traffic from Monday, November 6, 2017 through Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. daily.

Access to all driveways and properties will be maintained throughout the pruning.

A detour route utilizing Glover Avenue will be marked to route traffic around the work zone.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all work areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this pruning is in progress.
