Green Street and Goodwin Avenue Lane Closures

Illinois American Water Company will be doing a water main repair that will reduce eastbound traffic to one lane on Green Street between Goodwin Avenue and Gregory Street and close the through lane on Goodwin Avenue between Illinois Street and Green Street starting on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. through Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.


Both Green Street and Goodwin Avenue will remain open to through traffic at all times during the sewer repair.


Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas. Thank you for your cooperation while this improvement is in progress

Join U-Cycle and the Urbana Park District to celebrate America Recycles Day 2015: Clothing the Loop! 


Enter the Creative ReUse Competition, make crafts from recycled items, view cloth and textile creations from local artists and bring select items to be recycled!  This is a FREE, all ages event!



  • Enter the second annual Creative ReUse Competition - View the attached file for competition guidelines.  Make your own artwork/creation from repurposed clothes/textiles prior to the event and enter to win the Creative ReUse Competition!

  • View textile creations made from local artists

  • Participate in U-Cycle games and activities

  • Create your own artwork at the craft table

Items accepted for reuse at the event and donated to those in need include:

Washington Street Closure

Weather permitting, Washington Street will be closed to through traffic between Carle Avenue and McCullough Street starting at 7:00 A.M. on Tuesday October 13, 2015, to 10:00 A.M. on Monday October 19, 2015, for a sanitary sewer repair. There will be no detour route for this closure.


Access will be maintained to all properties on Washington Street during the sewer repair.

Southbound Lincoln Avenue Closure from Springfield Avenue to Green Street

Weather permitting, Lincoln Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic between Springfield Avenue and Green Street starting on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. through Monday, October 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. for a water service installation.


A detour route for southbound traffic on Lincoln Avenue is provided via Springfield Avenue to Goodwin Avenue to Green Street. Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully through this and all construction areas.
