The Cities of Champaign, Urbana and the Urbana HOME Consortium have over $5 million available to fund programs or projects to assist in providing affordable housing, homelessness prevention and related services consistent with the Urbana HOME Consortium’s 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and affordable housing and homeless goals enacted by both Cities. Agencies that are interested in applying for these funds may do so through the Housing and Homeless Innovations Consolidated Application process.

Municipal Electric Aggregation Customers Need Not Take Any Action to Remain in Program

(Urbana, Illinois) December 5, 2022 – Municipal Electric Aggregation participants in several Central Illinois communities  participating in their respective municipal electric aggregation program recently received a letter from Ameren that caused some confusion about their electricity supplier expectations. 

Customers should know that anyone currently participating in the aggregation programs for Champaign County, City of Urbana, and Village of Mahomet which expire in December do not need to do anything in order to continue to receive the benefits of municipal aggregation including reliable, stable, and cost-effective rates.

Municipal Electric Aggregation customers in Central Illinois have received confusing communications suggesting that they must soon make a choice to change their electric supplier. 

This is not accurate.  These municipalities have already competitively selected an electric supplier, Energy Harbor, starting in February 2023.  An Opt-out letter for the new program will be sent out in the next few weeks.

Public Meeting - Downtown Public Realm Study

Downtown Urbana has been an important place for residents, students, and visitors over the years and recent investments in public amenities have had a positive impact on the urban fabric of downtown. However, the City realizes there is still work to be done in creating a vibrant downtown that serves the surrounding residents, university community, and the whole of Urbana. This study is an opportunity to engage the community to identify an actionable plan to improve the public realm in Downtown Urbana.
